Turkish fashion house Kayra, which caters for hijabis has just posted a video on their facebook page with reflections from their 2012 Spring-Summer collection.
My jaw dropped. I instantly fell in love with the colours, style, class, glamour... and I thought: that is what I want to look like!!!
To be honest, about 3-4 years ago, when looking into which brands to import to Australia, Kayra was on the list, but eliminated due to their very backward style... until two years ago I wouldn't take a second glance at their items despite the amazing quality of their products, only because I thought their styles targeted an older audience.
However, as of mid 2010 their styles took a turn for the better, and they seem to be doing great as a result. In fact, I can say in confidence that they have some of the best styles available for hijabis. At that time, another friend who was selling hijab friendly clothing (Sorayya Design) started to import Kayra to Melbourne, and her success was not a surprise with gorgeous products of such quality.
Back in 2010 I was advised by the director of another fave brand of mine (which I was unable to import at the time due to financial reasons) that their designer had transferred to Kayra. I could see the similarities back then, but particularly last season and this new season, Kayra is just doing an amazing job. I can't get over how gorgeous the new designs are, and have never wanted to wear something so badly. :)
Although I promise to put the brakes on my nafs so that I do not overdo the shopping when I get to Turkey (I am hoping, praying, this year inshaallah). I have to work very hard, and I don't intend on blowing it all on clothing... only that which I see necessary shall be purchased. I don't like hoarding.
So yeah, take a look at the video and let me know what you think... I can't wait! Just can't wait! I want to look in the mirror and see me wearing many of these. :P Call me crazy, I call me woman. :)))

I am loving the new items but not so sure about this new hijab design. it really offers no chest coverage at all hmmmm
it's actually quite easy to arrange it to cover your chest dalal :)
I also love the designs. Looks so elegant and trendy :)
Preciosas imágenes, mucho glamour. Un saludo
salaams...hmm, i love those styles too. Ditto what EDB says,...ALL Turkish producers do pictures with the scarves NOT covering the chest. But its very simple and easy to just put the scarf over the chest. You do that with your abaya or jilbab right? so whats the difference? You dont have to tuck your scarf in, just leave it out and pin over the chest area! voila
I think sometimes sisters get put off by the pictures of the women in the turkish styles with the scarf tucked in without realizing those are just fashion pictures and models. In reality most modest, hejabi Turkish women do put the scarves out to cover the chest as is required.
The photos are very chic looking.I like them but my style is so different I think I would have a hard time wearing these. I love the way they wore their scarves. :)

Sir Norhajar, I watched the video a few times and it doesn't help, I just want them more and more :)
Rosa, I agree :)
Umm Ibrahim wassalaam :) what was the link to your post on covering the chest with these shawls? can u share it here? So if anyone wants they can get ideas from your post :)
Umm Sultana, I am personally steering towards this style :) it seems so classy and altogether. I usually dress more casual, but my job in the near future is going to require me to dress a little more formal or well, so I do need to make a slight change :)
Do they have a website I can purchase from?
I love the turkish way of tying the hijab, its very unique and simply chic !

OK
Do they have a website I can order from? I can't find it if they do.
Anon, the actual Kayra online shop sells within Turkey only, they don't ship international, but there is a site called e-tesettur.com and they carry Kayra stock along with other brands like Armine and Tugba. Downside is that the website is in Turkish only and they do ship international! However, they don't have the new stock online yet. FYI :)
Shay, me too!!! :)
